Handling

When you pick up your guinea pig, make sure you don't squeeze to tight. Grab him/her with one hand on the back and the other on the belly. Then, cradle your pig and make sure that the cavy's rump and back is supported.

Some guinea pigs don't like being picked up. Others do. It depends on their personality and if they have any back or sensitive areas.

Make sure you have a towel when petting your piggy, because some of them don't warn you when they have to go. Some nip at the towel or clothing, warning you. It all depends on your cavy.
